Late Summer 2019 Photos

On a hot day at the end of summer sometimes there are things that happen to get me out of the house and down to a river. Yesterday a friend was in town and had to go to New Hamburg. While she was in New Hamburg she suggested that we go to William Scott Park.

Before my friend picked me up I got some photos of the little bit of colour that we have around here, and am including them in this collage too. Considering it is one week from the end September, I don't see much fall colours showing yet. But, nevertheless, I was able to zoom in and capture some of the red that is out here.

Considering most of these trees are ones that change colour, I knew exactly which ones would be coloured before the rest from having had ten autumns on this property. I was a bit surprised that there was not more colour yet though.

At this angle I had very little colour to capture yet.

Straight ahead is an oak tree and it is changing colour.

Although it is not showing up too well in the above photo, the red berries captured my attention and I just had to take a shot at them.

Every year this tree just behind the pine is one of the first to change colours, and it has very bright red leaves when they turn.

I zoomed in to capture the other tree that always turns red at the top before anywhere else.

I also zoomed in on the first tree that I had captured so I could use the pictures for FaceBook cover pages.

Lately there have been painted rocks all over the property here and while I was taking photos of the coloured leaves, I also happened to see the bright blue colour of this rock and had to get a shot of it.

I wasn't worrying and I was quite happy when I spotted this one.

A different angle of this tree and I had to capture it with the beautiful fluffy base called clouds on blue skies.

In William Scott Park in New Hamburg we went down to the edge of the Nith River, so I started taking some shots of the river and trees.

Then we came back up from the river's edge and I took some shots across the park.

And then we walked along the river and I captured some shots.

And then a canoeist came paddling by.

And then I got a shot of the pavilion.

A zoomed in shot of the birches across the park from where we were at the time.

A picture of the boat launch area.

We came to an area where there was long grasses and weeds through which I waded to get closer to the river. Here is a shot before I attempted the trek.

Looking back to where we had come from, I took this shot.

After struggling through some of the grasses I took this picture and then progressed closer.

A closeup of one of the birches from a different angle.

There was a caterpillar on one of the birch trees and I captured it.

Because I had only my cane for mobility I was getting weak and decided to rest in the pavilion and captured some of the scenery from that location.

When we first arrived I had noticed these red Hibiscus flowers and as we were leaving my friend noticed them too. We stopped and I captured the next two shots.

As we crossed the bridge that crossed the river, I decided to capture a shot of the dam.

And then we drove past the cenotaph and I quickly snapped a shot before heading back to my place.
