Hamilton Ontario Waterfalls

On June 12th I took a bus to Cambridge Centre where I was picked up by my friend Barry and we made our way to see three of Hamilton's waterfalls. We had planned to see five of them but had difficulty finding one of them and when we went to find out where it was I was able to find out how to locate the third one we visited that day.

We ran into a bit of difficulty too when we tried to locate the first two and actually saw them in the reverse of what I had plotted out at home and online. I'm actually glad we did them in the order that we did. Because we had passed the street that leads into Webster's Falls and driven past Tews Falls, I suggested that we see Tews Falls first and then find the street.

There was some signage at the entrance to Tews Falls that gave me some idea of where we were and also where other sets of Falls Were.

There were two paths leading away from the parking lot but having been there before I suggested we take the trail just ahead of us here.

There is also some beautiful open space here as we move down the path toward where the falls are.

Looking back up the path to the parking lot.

Just around the bend we came to a wooden bridge and I knew this where I had been the last time here at Tews Falls.

This water is the water that is running down towards the falls.

There was a spot that I could get closer to the upper part of the water as it fed down toward the falls.

Once we were across the bridge there were some plaques to be inspected.

When I see a bench sitting like this I have to investigate what it it there for.

And then I saw a set of stairs and having my walker I knew I would not be able to take it up there. I had my cane too so I parked my walker where I could see it from the top and went to see what was up there. Barry had already gone ahead. I could have gone up the ramp at the side, but it was quite steep.

But before I went up the stairs I found this plaque down below.

I decided to capture the steps at the landing spot.

Once at the top I found some beautiful scenery.

And then I saw this other platform down some steps.

At the bottom on the platform I found the falls and immediately realized that it was much more worth it than my last time here.

And more scenery.

I had to have a picture of me at the top of the stairs.
The trail led on from here and over to Dundas Peak, but we were not heading that way.

I took a bunch of photos along the top here before heading down the stairs to my walker and to see what else was visible here.

Now we are down at the bottom of the stairs.

Here you get an idea how steep the trail is at the side of the steps.
From here I could see there was another lookout, but first I wanted to look around here.

This is the lookout that is closer to the falls.

Barry is already there.

I found this tree interesting.

There was a reainbow at the bottom of the falls.

And then I noticed the trail that my friend and I had walked the last time. There were no lookouts available back then.

Some purple flowers over near the top of the falls.

Once we finally found the street that takes us to Webster's Falls and had parked the car, I took this picture just before we headed up the path to view the falls.

There was a wrought iron railing along the ravine edge and I took a number of photos through the rails.

Here you can see the falls but just barely.

This was the first fairly clear shot of Webster's Falls.

It was nice to get some clear shots of the falls and also the bridge.

Scenery at the top of the lookout.

We were sitting on a bench here and I was able to enjoy the sound of the falls here. It was quite soothing.

There is the bench that we sat at.

We made our way toward the place where the path leads down to the top of the falls.

I was able to get a fairly good shot of the bridge that we were heading toward.

Looking up the path that we had just come.

And then we were at the bridge. Barry went down the stairs here and investigated it but I was not going to attempt that.

This shot and the next one are two angles of the area to the right of the bridge where we were here.

Looking across the bridge.

On the right side of the bridge.

Me sitting down for a bit.

To the left side of the bridge and toward the top of the falls.

And then we found some picnic tables and as I was hungry we sat down and had a snack.

I had some mixed nuts and apple slices.

This was my view from my spot at the table.

After our rest we decided to do some exploring.

And in doing so we found a bridge and some more water.

It looks like they had some rain recently and it was challenging to cross here and not slip in the mud.

After that walk, we came to the top of the falls and were told the stairs down to the edge of the bottom of the falls was no longer open.

The view across the top of the falls.

A closeup of the bridge at the top of the falls.

On the bridge and capturing the colour at the top of the falls.

On our way out to the car.

After driving through Hamilton we finally located Tiffany Falls. I had noticed that Tiffany Falls was almost ½ km from this spot as we went in.

There was not a lot of water at this point but I knew what the falls looked like and wanted to see them.

There are two footbridges along this trail.

The path was much less groomed than at Tews or Webster's falls.

There was a huge boulder here at the edge.

Finally we get a glimpse of the falls.

And then we headed back to the car.

And then I decided to take a picture of the sign near the entrance before we got into the car and headed back to Cambridge.
